How It Began

Founded in 2025, The Asylum Project is a grassroots organization committed to offering sanctuary and safety to U.S. citizens facing persecution, particularly LGBTQ+ individuals, BIPOC communities, and people with disabilities. Our mission is to provide a safe, no-cost landing zone within the European Union for those fleeing injustice, discrimination, or danger at the hands of local, state, or federal agencies.
For many, this is not just relocation, it’s survival.
In just a short time, with the power of community and social media, we’ve launched a successful crowdfunding campaign and are now raising funds for a permanent landing zone in Portugal. This will be a lifeline for those with nowhere else to turn.
Our founder, Jonathan Jones, has emerged as a trusted guide for thousands, offering step-by-step education on emigration, passport processes, and legal resources through widely shared videos. His leadership has sparked a growing movement. Now, we need your help to take the next step.
Your support can help us secure safe shelter, provide legal and logistical aid, and expand our reach to those still searching for a way out.
Together, we can give people not just safety, but the chance to live freely, authentically, and without fear.
