The Asylum Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2025. We provide a no-cost landing zone in Portugal for U.S. citizens seeking safety abroad. Furthermore, our work centers those facing the greatest risks: LGBTQ+ individuals, BIPOC communities, and people with disabilities who are fleeing systemic persecution.
We are not a charity—we are a community. Above all, we believe that safety is a fundamental human right.
Through grassroots organizing and a growing network of supporters, we launched a successful crowdfunding campaign. Now, we are building toward a permanent safe house in Portugal where people can land, rest, and plan their next steps without fear.
